Over-the-Top Devotion: Zacchaeus’ Radical Response

Have you ever witnessed someone’s response to Jesus that just stops you in your tracks? That moment when grace meets a heart in such a way that everything changes? This weekend at Mount Lebanon, we meet Zacchaeus, a man whose story reminds us that Jesus’ grace can break through even the strongest traps in our lives.

In Luke 19:1–10, Jesus walks into Zacchaeus’ life with grace so unexpected that it shatters the “money trap” he had built around himself. Jesus doesn’t ask for polite adjustments or small improvements. He calls for a total turn, a complete surrender.

And Zacchaeus responds—radically. He doesn’t just tweak his life; he upends it. He doesn’t merely “repent a little”—he repents fully. He doesn’t give a small gesture of generosity—he gives freely, abundantly, with abandon.

That’s the power of radical grace:

  • It creates radical trust.

  • It gives radical freedom.

  • It unleashes a radical response.

Zacchaeus’ story challenges us to examine our own lives. What traps hold us captive—money, comfort, control, or the illusion of security? How might Jesus’ radical grace be calling us to step out of these traps and respond with wholehearted devotion?

As we continue our Kingdom Currency series, this weekend invites reflection and action. Following Jesus isn’t meant to be safe or comfortable—it’s meant to be transformative, bold, and utterly freeing.

This weekend, we invite you to join us as we explore Zacchaeus’ radical response and the radical grace of Jesus:
