Less, but better.
There’s an old German saying that simply means, “Less, but better.”
The idea is straightforward: Do fewer things—and do them exceptionally well.
For nearly 100 years, Mount Lebanon Lutheran School has embraced this vision. What began in one small classroom has grown into two campuses serving 241 students. Yet even with that growth, our commitment remains the same: We don’t aim to become bigger. We aim to become better—better for every student, every family, and every teacher who shapes the lives of our scholars.
And by God’s grace, it shows.
For the eighth consecutive year, our school has achieved a 5-star rating from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). We care deeply about how our students grow in the classroom.
We expanded spiritual care by adding a School Pastor eight years ago, so every family receives intentional, personal spiritual care and support.
We grew our Student Services team to ensure individualized academic help for every learner.
For years, we’ve partnered with Christian Family Solutions so students and families can receive professional Christian counseling during the school day.
Why all this? Because we believe students should be wholly cared for—body, mind, and spirit.
But we are not content.
We want to do even better.
Our mission is simple:
Through the transformative power of the gospel, we seek to make disciples of Jesus, who are heirs of eternity, and prepared with a Christ-centered, excellent education to be servant leaders in the community.
We care about far more than classroom performance.
We care about each scholar’s relationship with Jesus.
We care about the life they’ll live beyond the classroom.
We want them prepared—heart, mind, and faith—to serve their communities with courage and compassion.
That’s why our annual Travel, Canvass, Witness (TCW) trip matters so deeply to us.
Last year we launched our first annual Travel, Canvas, Witness (TCW) service trip with our 8th grade students. They put their faith into action, volunteering at several sister congregations in Indiana and Kentucky. This one-week, beyond-the-classroom mission experience has proven transformative for our scholars. (We’ll share some of their stories in coming posts!) You can also read more about last year’s experience here.
This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your help.
Would you partner with us to equip our scholars for a life of following Jesus beyond the classroom?
Your generous gift will help offset the significant cost of offering TCW to every student who participates. This trip costs about $1,500/student with a total experience cost of approximately $31,000.
Your support helps us continue doing what we strive to do best:
Raise up disciples of Jesus—rooted in faith, growing in excellence, and ready to serve.
Thank you for helping us do “less, but better”… for the sake of our scholars, their futures, and God’s kingdom.
