The Servant of the Lord #4 - The Servant’s Sermon
On Ash Wednesday, we hear The Servant’s Sermon from Isaiah 61:1–3. Jesus stands in Nazareth and declares that these words are fulfilled in Him—the Anointed One sent to bring good news to the poor, freedom to captives, comfort to the brokenhearted, and beauty instead of ashes.
It is a stunning announcement of forgiveness, release, and the year of the Lord’s favor. Yet the same Servant who comforts also confronts—calling us to repent of our sin and self-righteousness. When He doesn’t seem like the conquering King we expect, will we reject Him—or trust Him?
He may not be the Messiah we would design, but He is the Savior we need. Hold Him. Hear Him. Treasure Him.
