Intervention #7 - The Ark, the Cross, and the Font
In Genesis 6–9, the flood reveals both the depth of human sin and the seriousness of God’s judgment. Yet in the midst of it all, God provides a way of rescue—the ark. This message traces how the ark points forward to the cross of Jesus, where God’s judgment and mercy meet, and to the font of baptism, where that rescue is delivered to us personally.
Just as Noah and his family were brought safely through the waters, so God brings us through judgment into new life in Christ. Just as they stepped out of the ark into a new life, just as Christ stepped out of the grave into a new life, so the font is our cradle for our new life.
This sermon concludes our Intervention series, showing how God steps into a broken world not only to judge sin, but to save and make all things new.
